Many of us neglect our eyes. It is important to maintain good eye health in order to protect your vision for the future. Maintaining a healthy weight prevents eye disease (glaucoma). Always remember to put on eyewear when playing sports or other activities. Smoking is bad for your eyes, as well as the rest of your body. Research shows it increases the risk of developing cataracts, macular degeneration and also optic nerve damage…all of which can lead to blindness.
On a more positive note, you can do exercise to help improve eye strain whilst working on computers. If you look away from the screen every 20 minutes about 20 feet in front of you, for 20 seconds, this can help reduce eye strain. I for one am definitely going to give this a try.
Fruit and leafy green vegetables such as; spinach, Kale or collard greens can do your eyeballs a favour. Research also shows eating tuna, salmon and halibut can increase eye health. A healthy diet can kill or prevent disease.
A year ago I had an eye test. I was told I had less than 20/20 vision in one eye. So I embraced this and bought a sexy pair of Prada specs. As time went on I felt my eyes were getting worse. One day I decided to ditch the specs and become a vegetarian. I haven't looked back since and I don't wear glasses anymore either. This worked for me but it isn't going to work for everybody. If you have any concerns over your eyes consult your health practitioner, before making any drastic decisions.
